Our Pursuit
Ranch Horse University is a school for horses, built on a curriculum-based training program like no other. We bring together a team of professional trainers who work collectively to develop horses through structured, progressive coursework.
RHU Course Offerings:

Age appropriate lessons that teach your horse basic but critical skills.
This course is designed to give yearlings a head start towards a solid foundation.
Duration: 15-30 days • No Saddles

Set your horse up for success with a strong , lasting foundation.
Each horse will develop at their own pace gaining confidence, understanding pressure, basic cues, maneuvers & more.
Duration: 90 day minimum • No Leverage aids of any kind

Refining fundamental skills for continued development of confidence, capabilities and understanding. Ultimately solidifying the foundation laid in a quality start.
This course is about preparation for performance from the back yard- to competition.
Duration: 90 day minimum • Primarily done in a traditional hackamore or snaffle

102 utilizes experience and exposure while developing physical strength and ability for a well rounded, well prepared horse.
It is one thing to perform what is asked on home turf and in a controlled environment… it’s an entirely different thing to perform surrounded by new sights, sounds and situations.
Duration: 90 day minimum • Bridle may be introduced

Refining softness, responsiveness and collection while graduating to the bridle.
Moving to the bridle, this course develops accountable horses that perform all tasks from 101 and 102 one-handed in the bridle- all while maintaining softness, straightness, and self-carriage, without requiring micromanagement from the rider.
Duration: 90 day minimum • Traditional bridle &/ Spanish style with Romel Reins

Our Certificate of Excellence highlights a horse’s natural talent & ability to excel within a specific discipline.
While not every horse will receive a certificate recognizing their strength(s) we feel it is critical to highlight those that naturally exemplify the standards within certain disciplines.

LEAD TRAINER
Joshua Rushing leads the RHU training team. He is a 5× EXCA World Champion, ARHA World Champion, multiple AQHA and MoRHA High Point winner, and a multiple UHCA Year-End Champion. Joshua brings a strong foundation of horsemanship, experience and proven results at elite-levels of competition to the RHU program.
TEAM TRAINER
Tracy McReynolds is a valued member of the RHU team with a background in producing top-level reining horses. His accomplishments include 2× ABRA World Champion, PHBA World Champion, NRHA Derby Champion, NRHA Reserve World Champion, AQHA World Champion, along with numerous local and regional titles.
